A variation of the cloche, is this beautiful bicorn hat with an upturned, rollback brim. Also known in 1915-1918, as the Bumper Hat. It was the perfect motoring hat, as it was aero-dynamically suited to traveling with the top down. Bumper hats were often much larger than this one, and had to be held on with a scarf, or veiling wrapped over the top of the hat, and tied under the chin, to keep insects and dirt from getting in the eyes, while traveling at top speeds of 85 miles per hour, in a candy apple red Stutz Bearcat! The windshield was no bigger than a dinner plate! Still, I am immersed in the series Downton Abbey!! Can you see this one on Lady Mary?
I have hand blocked this beauty on a vintage wooden hat block, in a very fine, lightweight parasisal straw, and frosted it with a hatband of bias cut cotton pinstripe, and finished its' crowning glory with a bouquet of my own hand made silk poppies and trailing fuschias. Stiffened to perfection with professional, non-toxic milliners gelatin. Understated, and so very elegant!
A stunning hat, sure to turn heads.
NOTE: This hat at the moment is a custom order only.
Please convo me with your head measurement, PLUS one finger under the tape for comfort!  Not too tight!!
