Lady Cora's Edwardian Hat

Lady Cora's Edwardian Hat

385.00

This Edwardian Era inspired hat ca. 1912-17 (at its' peak), evokes the sheer elegance of that time in fashion history, when couturiers like Paul Poiret and Madeleine Vionnet, were changing the female silhouette to one of more natural and graceful lines. Downton Abbey fans will appreciate my ever so brief reference to the hat that Lady Cora Grantham wore to the flower show.
Completely hand blocked, and hand finished, this sophisticated La Belle Epoch bicorn hat is trimmed in authentic Victorian/Edwardian jet bead passementerie, which is hand sewn to the straw, as is the soutache braid surrounding the asymmetrical brim, which is wired for a sturdy edge. An overlay of embroidered lace covers the crown, with a motif that mimics the curl of the dyed peacock feathers, and the dotted chenille veiling. A handmade curled ribbon flower accents the hatband.
The perfect hat to wear to a wedding, garden party, the Kentucky Derby, and would be right at home as regulation Ascot Races attire!!
A one of a kind, heirloom quality piece of fine millinery. Be prepared for lots of attention in this lovely hat!!
