Spiraled Beehive Hat/Camel

Spiraled Beehive Hat/Camel

A most unusual hat for the brave fashionista, is this Spiraled Beehive Hat!
A clear departure from what I normally do, and a trendy aesthetic, which is a leap out of my own comfort zone. Think Hermes fall collection of 2013, and Pharrell Williams hat at the Oscars. Oversized, but this version is a bit trimmed down. It also has a much more historic origin, and is very similar to the hats of 13th century called, the Sugarloaf hat. Hand blocked on an improvised block, and trimmed in a contrasting braid, accentuating the height of the hat in an ascending spiral. The brim is wired for durability, and is entirely hand sewn. The surprise is the lining, that was hand draped on the same block, in contrasting taffeta, again, recreating the spiral effect. I was tempted to gild the lily with a button and feather, but as a piece of sculpture for the head, I felt it needed nothing, but to be allowed to just be itself.
NOTE: At the moment, this hat is a custom order only. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for creation. I will need your head measurement, PLUS one finger under the tape measure for comfort.
The pearl grey version of this hat is in stock and ready to ship!

Custom orders may also be in any color you choose!! Just message me on sized color preference.

This hat was featured in the Feb/March 22016 issue of TAKE Magazine in an article entitled,
Meet the Milliners (of New England). Available nationwide at Barnes & Noble, and Whole Foods, among other local locations. Many thanks to Lauren Clark/ Editor in Chief.
